not much of nothing… but poor grammar

Garden… organized… for now. Things grow ridiculously well on my deck for some reason.

FROLF (or more professionally, Disc Golf)… two rounds played. Disc tends to go towards the pin more often now, I may be getting the hang of it a little.

Google+… found and enjoyed. I hope it kills Facebook. I like it a lot.

Comic books… read, and I found the last couple books I needed to finish of “Sam & Twitch: the Writer”. I’m pleased about that and looking forward to digging in to them. I’ve also been keeping up on Fear Itself and Flashpoint, they have both been great stories in there own way. I really enjoy it when you get a drastically different take on the well known stories, tends to be pretty interesting stuff. Perhaps later I’ll cobble together an update/review on those big DC and Marvel stories.

Batman died? And why I got back into collecting comic books.

A few months back I noticed an article on Geeks of Doom about Batman Inc., and clicked through for a read. Now before I continue, let me explain something about my knowledge of comic book History. As I kid I collected comic books, almost exclusively Transformers, I had a pretty wide selection of other comics, but Transformers was the one I had a complete collection of (as long as I collected them I should say, call it complete #1-#50). I have always picked up a Graphic Novel here or there, but my current knowledge of whats happening in the Marvel and DC universes is limited these days to stories in the current cartoons and tidbits from the interwebs. So I’ll admit it’s somewhat spotty. Anyways, I read the article, and  found out a few interesting and new things. Batman had been killed; Dick Grayson had taken up the mantle of the Batman; Bruce Waynes son, Damian had become the new Robin; Batman/Bruce Wayne was not in fact dead (of course) and only trapped in time now having to find his way back to the present through history; Upon his return, Bruce Wayne tells the public he has been funding Batman and they will now be creating an international crime fighting corporation, Batman, Inc.! I had to read it a few times to grasp all that I had missed with the goings on in Gotham City. But I was intrigued and certainly wanted to know more and I headed to the comic shop to grab the issues mentioned in the article. After that it was over, I quickly picked up all the issues across multiple Batman titles to put together the complete story surrounding these massive changes to my favorite superhero. And I have to say, I think it’s some pretty cool shit that’s been going on, the current story lines are awesome and the art is more amazing than ever.

Of course this triggered a dormant but fiendish addiction and I have once again delved head first in to comic collecting. This time around however, I can actually afford it! Yes kids, I have my pull box at my local comic shop, with an expanding list of subscriptions. It seems I picked a good time to return to the hobby as many of the publishers were coming up with interesting jumping in points for new or returning readers. DC had just recently started a bunch of new titles continuing the stories of old characters (the Flash, Batman & Robin) and Marvel was putting put .1 issues. They would print between two regular printings and sum up the recent story lines allowing a new reader to catch up in a single issue. This certainly made it easy for me to catch up on lost story lines and provide me with a fantastic pile of great stuff to read. You can see my pull list here, it keeps me with about 8 new books a week and I have no doubt it will continue to grow. I’d say it’s been about 4 months now I’ve been putting my collection together I’ve got about a long box full now, not bad for a rookie collector if I do say so myself!

Okay, a little more.

Well, I’ve worked a little on my writings (I’m aware that’s not the correct term, but honestly, I can’t think of the proper term right now. But I’m sure you know what I mean) but they’re still not quite ready to publish. I’ve for four days of work and then I’m off for nearly two weeks. There isn’t a whole ton I have to get done, so I really do want to write some things. There’s a couple of posts here I have to wrap up and publish and a D&D related project as well. There’s a couple Lego ideas I’ve finally come up with as well, so I should have the time to get those going as well. Other than that ill get a few things done around home, and get stuff ready for this years garden.

Should be a pretty laid back bunch of days. Oh, and of course it will start off with a trip to the Comicshop and a big fresh stack of books to read as well!

Don’t fret!

If you’re concerned about the lack of recent posts, fear not! Im at work until Saturday, and have a couple posts already on the go. So as long as I can force my fingers to meet my brain near a keyboard this weekend there should be something new for you to read around here. And if you feel like reading along. I’m reading Deadpool #1000, and just finished Wade Wilson’s war.

P.S. super stoked for the new books tomorrow. Gotta love a Batman filled Wednesday.

NOTE this was supposed to have gone up about a week ago. Clearly a reason this is still Beta.

from the couch and android

As part of my attempt to actually write things for this Blog, I’m also going to try using WordPress for android again. I’ve tried it out in the past, and didn’t fall in love with it. So this is the start of our second go at it, I’m hoping for better things this time!

Anyways, I’m gonna finish watchin some Family Guy before I dig in to ‘Deadpool; Suicide Kings’. As if there’s a doubt, I’m really enjoying my Deadpool right now!

quick!

First post is gonna be a quick one… gotta play D&D in a little bit!

Just finished reading Invincible Iron Man TP V1 last night, cool ass storyline. Certainly some heavy shit. I just got back into this storyline @ about issue #28, so now I’m just filling in the back issues as it were. There has been some big stuff going down in the Iron Man storyline and I cant wait to catch up on all of it and see whats gonna happen next.

I gotta work Monday through Friday this week, so I’ll be waiting until Friday to go unload the subscription box… it should be a good comic day!

Also, I just picked up my first issue of Deadpool Team-Up, and I’m glad I did. Funny book.
